Needle felting is a process of stabbing raw wool with a very sharp barbed needle, which felts the wool into a solid shape. This shape can then be contoured with the needle to create the sculpture. Some sculptures also contain a wire armature or skeleton to provide support and more flexibility. Colour and texture is added with a range of different wools, such as Merino, Coridale or Alpaca in a range of colours. Eyes are either glass or plastic beads, and noses, feet and claws are crafted from Poly clay.

Sculptures take between 15 to 50 hours to create depending on the size and complexity of the subject matter. Each is individually hand crafted and this means that each is unique, although will be similar to original designs

ALTHOUGH FELTED TO A FIRM TEXTURE, NEEDLE FELTED SCULPTURES ARE NOT SUITABLE AS TOYS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN, AS IF THEY ARE SUCKED OR CHEWED, WOOL MAY BECOME LOOSENED AND PRESENT A CHOKING HAZARD.
